As another birthday approaches, I feel the need to restrain my impulse buys. However, that doesn’t mean I will give up on the things I love. I find myself constantly gushing about all the fluff and indulgent aspects of fashion and lifestyle. It’s a topic my best friend Aarohi and I often discuss with each other. Our comments range from “Isn’t this gorgeous?” to “I absolutely love this model and the shoot” or “I want this!” We even occasionally indulge in fantasies of becoming models ourselves. But amidst our wild imaginations, I like to believe that we both possess good taste.

We love fashion and we love to look at design. Besides scrolling Instagram for my favorite home décor trend on architecture you will find me on the following indie brands IG pages. In no particular order. Here’s what makes the cut :

  1. Yavi : For stunning sillouhettes and clothes ;)

2. Nobordersshop : A potpouri of sorts. Mostly I love the shoots. Do you sense the pattern?

3. Yam.india : Beautiful landscapes and clothes. The sari’s are yum.

4. Bhavya Ramesh Jewellery : For quirkly fashion accessories.

5. Peeli Dori : Love love love their ethnic indian wear.

6. Shop Drawn : I want all of their dresses and shirts. Convince me otherwise.

7. AIKEYAH : The colors and the intricacies of their designs

8. SPRINGORIGIN: Cutesy dresses and tops, reels and shoots that are real — just like my friend Apurva. I may be biased, but then again, the styles speak for themselves. For maximalists seeking a pop of color and a touch of vintage charm, Spring Origin is a must-check-out.

9. Rightsided : Another biased recommendation from a friend — Harshita and her brand, Right Sided, are everything and more. I’m kind of digging their bags and the touch of sparkle and fun they can bring to any outfit they’re paired with. What’s not to love?

10. Raiman : I don’t know the artist personally, but I’ve heard of her work through the grapevine. The Delhi grapevine is strong, and designers in India have a soft spot. Even if I may not always be able to afford everything, I love all the stuff on here.

11. Chidiyaa

My current favorite brand, which I realized my friend Jiya has modeled for, is effortlessly beautiful. I love the breeziness of these dresses, and I can’t wait to buy my first one. Also, I absolutely have to get a sari once I purchase a dress. I’ll keep you posted if I can.

12. Melt : Another delhi brand I kinda-sorta love their minimalist jewelry. It is simple and elegant. But it isnt very cheap. That is something I can assure you in advance.

13. Turn Black official : I dont wear alot of black but Turn Black’s clothes make me want to change that.

14. Kirikiri : My obsession with crystals cannot be ignored. I love gems, and these folks have some gorgeous pieces. They have my favorite moonstone and rose quartz. I don’t care if stones do nothing; just having them around my neck makes me feel like they do something. They’re special.

15. Mistry : For gorgeous bags . The moon bag is really something but I also think you cant really go wrong with a tote.

These are only a few of my favorite things. I wonder if any one is even interested in hearing about my subjective preferences and just things that have caught my eyes recently.

Let me know if you want to see more or would like a follow-up. If not, I hope you enjoyed this little peek inside my head. I love fashion, and there’s always a big part of me that would have loved to do more deep dives. A “Who What Wear” but with an Indian flavour, maybe? 😄

See you on the other side!
